At Upendo, worshipping the Risen Powerful King is a key element of what we do. In a typical worship service at Upendo you will experience a blend of contemporary worship music that ranges in style and tempo from African beat to contemporary gospel. In our Sunday services we have the following goals for our worship experience:

Celebration

There is so much for us to be thankful for, it is so important that we simply celebrate being in the house of the Lord, praising him together for all He has done.

I rejoice with those who said to me, let us go to the house of the Lord. (Psalms 122:1)

Acceptable Praise

We desire God to WANT to be with us. We've got to raise acceptable praise!

But You are Holy, enthroned in the praises of Israel.(Psalms 22:3)

Powerful Encounter

As we worship the Lord, it is our desire and goal that the Power of God would be unleashed upon us bringing freedom, liberty, healing, and all that goes along with a powerful God encounter.

...at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so the foundations of the prison were shaken, and immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone's chains were loosed. (Acts 16:25-26)

Softened Hearts

We believe that the model for getting into a place where God can touch your heart starts with praise and worship. If we are successful we will have hearts that have been softened and touched by the presence of God and will be prepared to receive the spoken Word of God.

Worship the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name. For the LORD is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations. (Psalms 100)
