God ordains the institutions of marriage and the family for procreation, instruction, discipleship, and humanity's enjoyment.(Genesis 2.18-25; Deuteronomy 6.4-9).
Christian marriages are intended to be a model of Christ's relationship to the church. As a church we believe that our critical function is to provide support, encouragement, and instruction, so that marriages and family can mirror that image. (Genesis 1.26-28; I Timothy 3.1-16; Titus 1.6; 2.1-15).
As we seek to improve the quality of family life, it is our desire to encourage intimate relationships, unity and a strong foundation in Jesus Christ among individual families at our church. By encouraging individual families to be strengthened and to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ, the family of God at UBC grows and becomes unified for the glory of God. And as the family of God becomes unified we will strive for one common purpose, which is to fulfill the great commission.
We accomplish the above through:
Monthly Visitations
Our leadership reaches out to couples on a monthly basis through visitations. Prayers and encouragements are offered. If you need a group of other couples to come and visit, please contact the couples planning committee and a visitation will be arranged.
Annual Retreat
Once a year in the month of September we plan for a marriage enrichment retreat for our married couples. Couples are encouraged to bring their children along. Our children's ministry plans a wonderful program for the kids so that the parents can concentrate on learning the ropes of marriage.
Seminars and Dinners
Occasionally the couples fellowship will arrange for special seminars and dinners designed to help strengthen marriages. A special speaker is invited to address issues that pertain to marriage. Our most popular dinners are held around valentine and Christmas.
Marriage and Family Counseling
Our pastors are available to provide confidential counseling in any area of marriage and family life. Call our Offices to schedule an appointment with any of our Pastors.
